Yeah that does make sense. Really then the purchase manager should fix that issue. Or you should just be able to associate either a alternate vendor or manufacturer to those two products and get the purchase orders sent out to the vendor/manufacturer when purchases are made of that product. So you get a copy, the site admin and the person shipping the two products.
