Un-subscribe and Legal Info
Placing your companies name, address and contact details on to the bottom of the email is a must. Not only is it the law, in the UK, but it's also professional. It shows stability and gains the trust of the customer. Also an un-subscribe button needs to been seen. Not providing your receipents with a 'get out' option is against the law.
Catch Their Attention with the Subject Line
You have less than 0.5 seconds to get their attention. Make sure it's to the point, relevant and interesting.

This is the most important tip there is. Track your campaigns with specialist software, so you can see how successfull it's doing. Some key things to review are:
