Lost in Translation?

21st November 2011 Web Design, Website Advice

If you’re running a business that sells products online then having a translation option would be highly advisable, after all, why would you want to alienate the rest of the world when there’s another billion or so potential customers out there!

There are two main options to consider when it comes to translating your website:

1. Install a translate bar such as Google Translate which can instantly translate your main content into a variety of languages. However, menu items and other bits and bobs will remain in there original language meaning the job is only half done.

2. You can create identical websites in various foreign languages. This is by far the more the most expensive option but will mean that EVERYTHING is translated and not just the main content.

The size of your company will normally determine which of these paths you go down with larger organizations more often then not choosing option 2 and smaller businesses tending to go for the cheaper option 1. If you would like to go through any aspects of website translation or determine which option is best for you then please do get in touch to see how Media Street Ltd can help, email [email protected] or call 01392 914033.
